Press Release

Leap Of Faith Technologies and Intelligent Medical Objects will jointly market Health.Net Products and Services

02/22/1999

Chicago, IL, February 22, 1999-Leap of Faith Technologies, a developer of Internet applications for healthcare, and Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO), a medical software and knowledge management firm, announced today that they will jointly market their health.net products and services to the healthcare community.

These products and services create virtual healthcare communities, and give providers the opportunity to streamline current processes, enhance the quality of care, and establish new ways of conducting business. This is accomplished through private-label kiosks and web services that aggregate disease-specific content, offer value-added services like on-line scheduling, and facilitate e-commerce including prescription writing and fulfillment.

Leap of Faith's products are a result of over $1.7 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health for the development of new technologies for communicating health-related data to the public. Current products focus on breast cancer, childhood immunization, and occupational health; a new product for genetic testing is expected to come on-line later this year. Patients and providers benefit from these products as information and communication resources, and case management tools.

IMO, most widely recognized for its computerized medical record (CPR) products, has expanded its development and now provides sophisticated web-enabled components to vendors and information services for physicians companies. IMO develops CPR components for Lotus Notes™, database utilities for Oracle® and SQL Server™, and patient instruction/prescription applications for providers at the point-of-care.

"Leap of Faith's expertise in health intervention design and social computing, coupled with IMO's expertise in medical knowledge management and medical software development, enable the creation of high-quality content and service offerings that can connect providers, patients, payers, and suppliers. In this way, patients and providers can be matched, and treatment procurement and fulfillment can be streamlined," said Barbara Krohn, CEO of Leap of Faith.

Leap of Faith was recently honored for its contributions to public health and health promotion by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The company was the recipient of the 1998 Tibbetts Award, which recognizes the technological innovation, economic impact, and business achievements of firms involved in the federal Small Innovation Research Program.

IMO is a Lotus Qualified Professional Developer with a core team consisting of medical doctors, software developers and system engineers. IMO has been nominated by ORACLE Corporation for the Smithsonian Institute's award on using technology for the benefit of humanity.

Both firms are Chicago-based. IMO also has a branch office in San Jose, California. For more information about Leap of Faith, call 888-849-8665 or visit their website at http://www.leapoffaith.com.
